What is GP24?

GP24 is a 24-hour GP service. We offer our patients the choice of video and phone appointments nationwide. In addition, patients in the Greater Dublin area can also avail of our GP call out service.

Are your Doctors licenced?

All our doctors are experienced, licenced General Practitioners and registered with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).

What’s the process?

You can use our online booking form, or call our dedicated team available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to request an appointment.

Can I use your service if I’m visiting a different city/town?

Yes, our Video GP & Phone GP services are available all across Ireland.

Our call out GP service is currently available within the greater Dublin area. This covers Dublin city, North & South Dublin, Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown and Fingal as well as Meath, Kildare, and Wicklow. Simply call or request a GP via the GP24 website.

I’m just visiting the Greater Dublin area, can I use the service?

Yes. We can arrange consultation at any location of your choice including hotels. Alternatively, we provide a Video GP & Phone GP service, both of which are available nationwide.

Am I covered by my private health insurance for GP24 service?

Depending on your health plan, you can claim back part of the consultation fee, but you should check with your health insurer.

What can your Doctors treat?

GP24 is not suitable for emergency services. As with your GP, our Doctors can assess and treat acute minor ailments, prescribe medication or refer you to a hospital if needed.

What is your waiting time?

This varies with location to location, however we aim for you to be seen within or around 4 hours from your request. Our operators will provide an estimated time of arrival before a Doctor is dispatched. In case of an emergency, please dial 112 or 999 for further assistance.

Do I need to be registered with GP24 to get an appointment?

No there is no need to be registered with us. Simply call us or request a doctor via the GP24 website.

What happens to the records of my appointment?

We can send a copy of your medical notes directly to your own GP following your consultation. If you do not have a regular GP, we can send the consultation notes to you for your personal records.

What if I need further medical care?

Our Doctors can refer to leading specialists if needed. Tests such as blood test or x-ray examinations can also be organised if needed.

What happens if I cancel my appointment?

As a courtesy to your GPs and other awaiting patients, please call us right away so we can relay the message to the dispatched GP.

Do you cover HSE Medical Card Holders, GP Visit Card Holders or Home Care Grant?

These are not covered by GP24.

What are your methods of payment?

You can choose to pay by debit/credit card at the time of booking.

How do I make a complaint if needed?

What time do you open?

We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year.

Can your Doctor administer any medication during the appointment?

Our GP’s do not carry medication with them. Our Doctors will only prescribe medication if suitable after a clinical assessment.
