Excellent service, receptionist so helpful kind and understanding, doctor called me back at expected time and script sent to my designated pharmacy immediately. At this stage when doctor surgeries are telling us we have to wait days for an appointment when seriously sick but not an emergency to go to A&E this service is an absolute lifesaver. Highly recommend for service , compassion and professionalism. Thankyou again

  • Yes, certain medications and supplements can interfere with the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives such as the pill, patch, or vaginal ring. These interactions can reduce hormone levels in your body, potentially increasing the risk of unintended pregnancy.

Types of Medications That May Interfere:

Enzyme-inducing medications: These drugs increase the activity of liver enzymes, which can break down contraceptive hormones more quickly. Common examples include:

    • Some antibiotics, like rifampicin and rifabutin (used to treat tuberculosis)

    • Certain antiepileptic drugs, such as carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, and topiramate

    • HIV medications such as efavirenz

    • St John’s Wort, a herbal remedy often used for depression and anxiety

    Other antibiotics:

When taking antibiotics, extra precautions are necessary and patients must consult their GP. Note that vomiting or diarrhoea caused by antibiotics can affect absorption of the pill — particularly if this occurs within 3–4 hours of taking it
