Dr. Simon's treatment has been a game-changer for me. Thanks to his skill and compassion, I am finally free from the debilitating pain of chronic headaches. I am eternally grateful.

Excellent service, receptionist so helpful kind and understanding, doctor called me back at expected time and script sent to my designated pharmacy immediately. At this stage when doctor surgeries are telling us we have to wait days for an appointment when seriously sick but not an emergency to go to A&E this service is an absolute lifesaver. Highly recommend for service , compassion and professionalism. Thankyou again

  • Yes - this service is based on the same patient-doctor confidentiality that you would expect in a face-to-face consultation.

  • A fungal nail infection (also called onychomycosis) is a common condition where fungi infect one or more toenails or fingernails. It usually starts as a white or yellow spot under the tip of the nail, and over time can cause the nail to become discoloured, thickened, brittle, or crumble at the edges. Infections are typically slow to develop and can be difficult to treat without prescription medication.

  • Fungal nail infections are caused by a group of fungi known as dermatophytes, but can also be caused by yeasts and moulds. These organisms thrive in warm, moist environments and are more likely to infect nails when:

    • Feet are regularly exposed to damp conditions (e.g. sweaty shoes)

    • There is trauma to the nail

    • The person has athlete’s foot or another fungal skin infection

    • There are underlying conditions such as diabetes or a weakened immune system

    • Ageing, poor circulation, or reduced nail growth increases susceptibility

  • Fungal nail infections can be treated with prescription oral antifungal medications, which are generally more effective than topical treatments. Available treatments may include:

    • Oral Terbinafine (commonly prescribed; typically taken daily 6 weeks for fingernails and 12 weeks for toenails)

      • Note side affects include nausea, abnormal liver function test, abdominal pain and bowel symptoms.

      • If patient has underlying liver or gallbladder disease, the patient must attend a GP before being prescribed

      • It is recommended that blood test checking includes liver function check from three weeks after start of taking this medication.

    • In some cases, Itraconazole may be used as an alternative

    • Topical antifungal nail lacquers (e.g., Amorolfine) may be recommended for mild or early cases, or if oral treatment isn’t suitable
